# Action - Add to Facebook Audience

This action adds a person to a Facebook Ads Audience.

When a person is added to this step, we send their email to Facebook. Facebook then tries to match the email to any of their users. If a match exists, the person will be added to your Audience.

# Connecting Facebook

Before you can use this step you need to connect your Facebook account to Encharge. To do that go to [your apps](https://app.encharge.io/apps), select Facebook, click on "Continue with Facebook" and log into your Facebook account. For a guide, [click here](//help.encharge.io/article/474-facebook-ads-integration-overview).

Note that you can currently have only one Facebook account connected to Encharge.

Alternatively, you can connect to Facebook directly from the step.

# How to set up Add to Facebook Audience step?

The step allows you to add a person to an existing Facebook Audience or to a newly created Audience.

## Add a person to an existing Custom Audience

Start by selecting your Ad account.

You will see a pre-generated list of all of the available Ad Accounts in your Facebook Manager listed in the following format:  *Business name (as written in your Ad Account setup) > Ad Account name*

Then, select the Custom Audience – only compatible Custom Audiences will be available for selection. Encharge supports Custom Audiences created from [customer lists](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/170456843145568?id=2469097953376494).

Note that Facebook only allows access to the following types of audiences:

* Created directly from a file
* Created using third-party data
* Values pasted into the input field manually via Facebook interfaces
* Created via an importer

If you don't see your audience in the dropdown, it means that Facebook does not allow third-party vendors like Encharge access to it.

Save the step and connect it to at least one trigger step.

## Add a person to a new Custom Audience

First, select your ad account. You will see a pre-generated list of all of the available ad accounts listed in the following format:   *Business name (as written in your Ad Account setup) > Ad Account name*

Then, click on the "Create Custom Audience" link at the bottom.  Chose a name for the new Custom Audience and click Create:

This will create a new Custom Audience in the selected Ad Account.

To finish the setup select the new Audience from the Custom Audience dropdown and save the step:

Finally, make sure the step is connected to at least one trigger step:

If you'd like you can review and manage your new Custom Audience from the Audiences page in your Facebook Ads Manager:

#### Create a new Custom Audience directly from Facebook Ads Manager

You can also [create a new Facebook Custom Audience](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/170456843145568?id=2469097953376494) directly from your Facebook Ads Manager.

To do that use the Customer list type for your Audience and import a list with one contact (a random or test contact). This will essentially create an empty Custom Audience that you can use in Encharge.

However, we advise that you **use the "Create Custom Audience" link in Encharge as explained in the previous section to ensure that your new Audience is compatible with Encharge.**
