Action - Send Intercom In-app Message

This step allows you to send an Intercom Chat message to identified people at a certain point in their customer journey.

Note that this action:

  • Sends Intercom Chat messages, not Post messages. To learn more about the different types of messages Intercom, check the article on their knowledge base.
  • Works only for identified people – e.g., people with an email address or userId. Therefore it's best used for in-app messages (hence the name of the step), and not for anonymous website visitors.

Connecting Intercom

Before you can use this action you need to connect your Intercom account to Encharge. To do that go to your apps, select Intercom, click on Connect and log inто your Intercom account. Finally, authorize Encharge.

Note that you can currently have just one Intercom account connected to Encharge.

Alternatively, you can connect Intercom directly from the Send In-App Message step.

How to set up Send In-App Message step?

First, select the Intercom user that will be used as a sender of the chat message.

Enter the subject line of the message (optional) – this is used in Encharge to help you identify the message in the Flow builder.

Populate the content of the message. You can use merge tags to populate the message with dynamic content, like the name of the user. To do that select the tag icon at the top right of the message area.

Finally, make sure that the Send In-App Message action is connected to a trigger:
